The impressive infrared night-vision system fitted to the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class, on show in Frankfurt this week, was developed and supplied by Bosch, suggesting that it will appear on the options lists of cars from other manufacturers in the not-too-distant future. The system allows drivers to see a well-lit view of the road ahead without dazzling oncoming motorists.
Arch rival BMW is offering a similar system in its 7-Series, developed by Swedish parts maker Autoliv.
The two systems differ slightly in the kind of image they present to the driver. The Engineer has a great write-up of the pair, here.
